Karina has been doing a great job with her weekly movie review: Netscape at the Movies. Here's the latest installment:

Now that we've fully launched Netscape Video, you can subscribe to the feed for the Netscape At The Movies tag, using your favorite podcasting program, to automatically download each new video podcast from Karina in an iPod video compatible format. Soon, I'm going to write up a full how-to explaining how someone with their own website could use Netscape as the hosting service for their podcast and integrate it nicely with their site. In the meantime, however, I thought I'd write a basic how-to (for those of you new to the world of podcasting) explaining how to subscribe to Netscape At The Movies using iTunes.

Read the full how-to with pictures after the jump.

Step 1.
First, you need to find the page where all the videos you want to subscribe to live. For this example, that page is: http://movies.netscape.com/tag/netscape+at+the+movies

This page displays all the stories that Karina has submitted with the tag "netscape at the movies." Using these same instructions, you can choose any page that has videos on it and subscribe to all those videos as a podcast too. For example, if you wanted to subscribe to every video ever submitted to Netscape, you could use this page: http://www.netscape.com/video/

Step 2. Notice the RSS icon that I've circled in red and pointed to in Figure 1 above. If you click on that icon, you will see a page like the one shown in Figure 2.

Instead of clicking on the RSS feed, you can right-click (ctrl+click if you are on a Mac) on the link and select Copy to copy the link. Alternately, you can open the RSS feed page, as in Figure 2 and copy the URL for the feed from the address bar in your browser.

Step 3. The next step is to open iTunes (or whatever program you use for podcasting) and manually subscribe to this feed. To do this in iTunes, select the Advanced menu in your menu bar and choose Subscribe to Podcast... (Figure 3).

Figure 3: iTunes' Advanced menu on OS X. On Windows it will look slightly different.

This will open a Subscribe to Podcast dialogue box. Paste the URL that you had previously copied in step 2 into the text field of the dialogue and click OK (Figure 4).

Step 4. Now you are basically finished. After completing step 3, the latest video will begin to autodownload. You can click the Get button next to any older podcasts that you want to download. From now on, whenever you launch iTunes (depending on how often you have the program set to check for new podcast), it will automatically check this feed for updates and autodownload the video for easy syncing with your video-capable iPod or viewing on your computer in iTunes. Enjoy!

Check back soon for another how-to, walking you through how to use Netscape to host your own video podcast.
