WTB: Software Engineer, Designer

We're expanding our team!

Software Engineer

We're currently looking for a developer to supplement our browser development team that could also lend a hand with Web development. The ideal candidate will have:

3+ years experience in software development.
Strong PHP/MySQL skills
Substantial C/C++ skills
Strong Javascript, XML, and DOM manipulation skills
A solid understanding of XPCOM
Experience building cross-platform applications
and, of course, a willingness to learn, solid time management skills, and a sweet ride that I could maybe borrow sometimes.

Additionally:

Familiarity with the Mozilla Firefox codebase is a plus
Experience with XUL is preferred but not necessary
A college degree is great, but not required; a substantial skillset can speak for itself.

Furthermore, you must be willing to work from home (using awesome Netscape-provided equipment), and you must be willing to let us pay you handsomely for the privilege. Web designer

We'd like to find a talented, motivated individual with:

A strong design aesthetic
Serious CSS skills (as in, it's your middle name)
Intimate HTML knowledge: semantics, standards (You're a hand-coder)
Hero-level organizational skills

And bonus points if:

You're great at illustration, icons, infographics
You're a self-starter who needs little supervision
You have great ideas and are willing to share

I've used Netscape sine version 2.1 before Microsoft came out with their crappy first version of IE. No matter what Microsoft did, I've stuck with Netscape. The best of the old was version was 4.97. I feel Netscape has to a degree abandoned it's long time core supporters in favor of kissing the butt of IE users. I have the Netscape Navigator Browser 8.12 on my computers, but rarely use it because it isn't matched with an updated Netscape Communicator email program like version 7.2 does. I switch between the two all the time.

Just a clarification, my initial post was to a different list associated to Netscape looking for workers where people were talking about when they connected with Netscape. As for working for Netscape, I'd love to work for Netscape as a Web Developer or Community Relations, but only if Netscape were going back to being a GREAT browser and email program like it once was. Whether you are talking about Netscape 8 or these so called "Netscape Anchors" it's all a joke trying to suck up to the Internet Explorer crowd. Netscape existed before IE, it wss better than AOL when AOL bought Netscape. You don't ruin a good thing. The only reason Netscape Navigator isn't the top Browser and Netscape Communicator the top email program is the people from AOL. They wanted to crush at least one of their competitors. I was on AOL back in 1994, but I used Netscape 3.0 to cruise the Web while on AOL, then when my local phone company offered Internet service in 1995 I switched and used Netcape for the web and email.

Netscape 8 sucks because it's a stand alone Browser, who needs a stand alone browser in 2006. Everyone uses email more than they surf the web. That's why I still use 7.2 for both my browser and email, I can switch between then flawlessly,

Get the old crew back and I'd love to use the certificate I got as a Webmaster and help to create a real good Netscape for the future or else I'll probably be switch to Mozilla where the smart Netscape people went.

Hello!

I am a bit confused. I submitted several articles to your site - pieces on wedding venues, entertaining (in your home) tips and travel pieces (guides, hotel reveiews, destination info).

About a week ago, one of your editors said I need to stop posting these stories because they were spam. I've sent him/her two posts asking for a better explanation with no answer. (He/she is an editor with netscape - I did verify that.)

I would like a description as to what consitututes spam here.

They wanted to crush at least one of their competitors." you are absolutly right, since this business went on between netscape and Aol,i lost all reasons to use netscape.
