I want my old Netscape back, is there any way to find it so I can make it my homepage again! I too may stop Netscape from being where I start my day!
I believe in what you're trying to do, I just don't think your implementation is all that good. Putting a frame around external links? How frikking mid 90's is that? Seriously, get some design and usability people in here.
Meanwhile, is it possible that the homepage of netscape wasn't the best place to so publicly make all your startup-esque mistakes? But then I suppose you wouldn't have any visitors at all, given the clunkiness of this interface.
Go back to the old Netscape home page or something like it. I hate the version you have now. Do not use any of it!
the new netscape is just a ripoff of digg
you alienated your userbase when you removed what they were used to and replaced it with a digg clone
I think a better alternative would be to do what you do on the side for the main section. I like it when the news is more clearly bucketed. If the main section could show the top 3 articles from each section then I can scan the front more efficiently to just look for news in the area that I'm interested in (right now I have to read the tiny text that says what section the article is in). But if I had to choose between the 2, I'd probably lean towards the 2nd one.
I hate all of these options. I only use netscape now because I've had the same email address for 10 years and I like my email address being my name instead of Barbiedoll5399. Please create a site for grown ups.
I believe that comparing Netscape.com and CNN.com is a little bit misguided. CNN is a news agency and as such they 'make' news. Netscape.com on the other hand is a collector of news - Netscape only points out news pieces written elsewhere. Thus in order for Netscape to actually be bringing something of its own to the table, comments and 'blog like' features are essential.
I am very disappointed in the "new netscape" and your two alternitives don't appear much different. I am likely going to change my home page soon if the "old' netscape is not reinstated. your sites are inane and boring. I do not understand nor care about the voting thing. The decision to change the site was a monumental error in judgement and I am certain that your numbers are dropping. JT
I really hate the new Netscape format, and want a return to the "old" formula that lets ME decide if we want to go into a story or not. If I want to watch the "News", I'll turn on the TV or Radio, not the Internet, for crying out loud. I resent other people's political biases filling up MY monitor screen. They irritate me, and ruin my day. Just give me a screen that allows ME to choose what I want to see!! Otherwise, Goodbye.....!!
Bring back the old format, please! I despise this new one. Instead of getting news, we have jokes, video gags, and political diatrabe from the fringe element. I get a bellyful of that from my family and friends sent directly to my email account. What's next for Netscape, a chain e-mail? To get real news, I have to go the extra mile and call up other websites.
I have always had Netscape as my homepage until now. I am changing my homepage on my computer at home to a site that is less political. I have already changed my homepage at work. Your site has become extemely politically one-sided. I am interested in news, not editorials from people from the far left.
Even though I am not forced to use Netscape because of my e-mail, it was always my homepage, and I have just been to lazy to find a new home since the new change. Add me to the list for one hanging on by a thread. I would far rather see up to the minute relevent news than comments. I guess I thought it was just me being too picky, but now that I know I'm not alone in my distaste of the new set-up, I hope that you'll get enough requests to go a bit in reverse....It wasn't broke...Didn't need fixed.
Both still crap
I do not like the new netscape, the old was much better. I will go somewhere else, do not care for peoples comments, or the format.

I prefer something like what I have on "My MSN," as it sets the news before me from those sites I have named (This constitutes "My MSN>") Consequently, I usually spend more time with "My MSN" than with Netscape. I like your browser; however, I am very fond of getting my news and stories from MSN.
I have the same feelings as some of the other respondents; that is, I care very little what the "hoi poloi" think when it comes to the major events of the day. I want to know what the essayists and opinion writers who staff our major newspapers have to say about these issues. They have earned my respect and I have a feeling who it is that is critiqing today's events for my consideration.
Thank you for providing this space for my views and taking under advisement what your readers are thingking!
