When it comes to holidays, it would be difficult not to at least consider the simpke meaning of the word "HOLIDAYS" Holy and days, and not to at least ask ourselves why are they HOLY!. Do we Know? Do we really know why this particular days? Does it matter? Is it sin not to celebrate them? Is it sin to celebrate them? Good questions ahh....?
Christmas is God's gift to mankind by giving his Son to us, wihout "CHRISTMAS" North America would not be what it is to day. MERRY CHRISTMAS not Merry Holidays.
Jesus is NOT the reason for the season. The winter solstice is the reason for both the season and the festivities. Jesus wasn't born on December 25th. The 25th of December was a Roman holiday, Saturnalia, which celebrated the birth of the sun-god, as the days begin getting longer again at that time of year. It was a time of gift giving. When the Christians came to power, they merely rubber-stamped Jesus on an already existing pagan holiday.
Why do people always mention these 3 major holidays, but neglect to mention Eid which typically happens close to this time of year as well. I mean, Kwanza? Is that really a legitimate holiday around the world? Why not celebrate Pagan holidays too while we're at it, like Wiccan holidays?
