I dont believe in Netscape any longer! For they are still not able to release international Versions of Netscape 8 (French, German...)
Shame on you!
good
Thanks alot guys... keep discovering more and more...
God Bless You...
If only it could be based on seamonkey!
It would make a transition from 7.2, with all the wonderful suite!
Mail, Calendar, Browser, Composer, and all the plugins availables!!
A Netscape 7.2 Fan on Linux & Windows Xp
Cool...now to the legal stuff. Since Firefox is Free Software (GPL/LGPL/MPL) are you actually going to release the source code this time like you're supposed to?
Would it have normal download manager?
And support for old ns8 fascinating themes?
My problem with the browsers of late is that you took away the email option....where I would put in the pop server information, stmp info, ect. I don't like using web-based email. I preferred the way email was handled in Netscape 7.4 for example. Why was this removed?
Will there be a Linux build this time? ;-)
How about bringing Netscape 9 back to Linux!?.
Browsers are now a dime-a-dozen. What I want now, as do most of the users of any suite...
I want a one stop shop...
I saw that in NS 8.
Coming to know that NS 9 will be a browser makes it fall in my perception even below Opera.
Please please please....consider the past glory of Netscape and revamp it properly and appropriately, paying attention to stuff like ACID TEST2 and all which only Opera passes by the way.
Lookin forward to Netscape 9.
don't disappoint me now.

A Netscape Suite or nothing.
I have always used and liked Netscape. For some time now I been using Ver 8.1.2, however I have had many operational issues with the browser lately. To try and correct these issues, I found your site (and was pleased to find that Netscape is moving to a new version) and downloaded the 8.182 version to reload Netscape on my system, hopefully to correct my problems. The download went well with 2 exceptions... 1) When asked to import my bookmarks I selected Netscape and was notified the import was complete. WRONG, I have now lost all my bookmarks, this is VERY bad. 2) I get a blue screen when my home page is requested. The fix addresses IE, Firefox and Safari, but not Netscape. Why when I'm using Netscape does it not address the browser I'm using??? Please, ANY help here is greatly appreciated.
At least Netscape seems to survive ? I've left Netcape 8 since 18 months for
Firefox 2.0 and Opera 9.1 because that browser was never updated and without
international version.Maybe I could change my opinion but I've been very deceived
untill now...Try to avoid these mistakes in the future if you want to grow up!!!
wait and see .
Bye.
Netscape 4 turned in to Mozilla Suite which recently turned in to Mozilla SeaMonkey. If you want the "suite" Netscape 4 and earlier used to be download Mozilla SeaMonkey.
Netscape is not based on "Firefox". The rendering engine (part of the program that takes (X)HTML and puts it in to a visual on the screen for you) in Firefox and Netscape is called Gecko. Firefox 1.0x used Gecko 1.7, Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 used Gecko 1.8, and Firefox 3 will use Gecko 1.9. If Netscape fans are to be lucky they will receive the Gecko 1.9 rendering engine.
My browser buttons are as follows from left to right...
Back, Forward, Stop, Reload, Home | Bookmarks, Downloads, History, New Tab, Print. I can commend the icons for being clear but a default GUI HAS to use text labels. Non-savvy computer are overly cautious and won't click on buttons without labels just like you wouldn't press the big red button on a Nasa computer.
Lastly you need to move the address bar directly below the navigation buttons. Consistency is important including between browsers (and IE7 fails miserably at this).
For those who are thinking about buying Vista: don't. It sucks up 660MB without any given explanation and most computers only have 512MB. If you have a buddy you can test this out easily by disabling virtual memory, all startup programs, and all services (non-critical services can not be disabled). Reboot and you'll see a memory load of just under 700MB but processes will only add up to 20-30MB.
I'm looking forward to seeing Netscape regain it's former GUI glory. Is the GUI open source again for 9 or not?

The viewer is really super, but was useful in order to oneself Polish language if you are intending to win the market back.
