The Rebirth of My.Netscape

At long last, the Netscape team is proud to release a Beta of the next generation My.Netscape, at: http://my.netscape.com

This site will be live tomorrow (Tuesday 3/6).

My.Netscape will retain its identity as a personalized homepage, with a minimum of ad clutter. The initial release will in fact have no ads at all! Our programming staff has worked hard to create a framework that allows for scalability and UI elegance.

We invite any and all feedback on bugs in the product and suggestions for how to better it. We will have a link to a feedback form to help in communicating your thoughts back to the development team, prominently featured at the top of the My Netscape page. We have a long list of extra features that we will add to the My Netscape experience as the weeks go by, but please do let us know how we are doing. We appreciate it!

We are also hard at work at finishing a migration feature that allows previous users of My.Netscape to import their stock portfolio and favorite bookmark preferences. We hope to have that available soon, keep an eye out.

In Figure 1 below, you will see the left side of the My.Netscape screen, including a configured Weather module. The modules can be dragged and dropped to enable easy configuration of your layout. Logging into the site with your existing Netscape.com username and password will allow you to save your module layouts and settings to view them from anywhere.

In Figure 2, you will see the Add Content layer, which will allow you to easily add modules to your My.Netscape screen. We have just under 100 modules that can be added already, from the mainstream to the off beat, from niche categories to generic widgets. For those who have favorite RSS feeds that aren't listed, you can use our generic RSS feed reader. In most cases, it's as easy as clicking Add!

We hope that all of the folks who patiently waited for this release will enjoy using the new product. There's even a module for a game that many of you requested we resurrect when we launched the new Netscape.com last summer. :-)

I am having a hard time getting to my e-mail after the switch to AIM (using Netscape). It comes up with an error message 9 out of 10 tries. But, if I use Internet Explorer, then go to the Netscape Home page and go to my e-mail, I have no problem logging in to my e-mail.
Any help would be nice.

That's great now how can I get rid of AOL mail. This is the lousiest service I have ever had. Half of the time I cannot send my e-mails out and sometimes I cannot open the e-mails I have recv'd. Also it will not send to some of my recipients add.

Sirs, I got Netscape 7.2 and it works and I intend to keep it. I had friends who downloaded 8.1 and I couldn't input the incoming mail and outgoing mail information and no where to call or a book to read. My friends had to use outlook express. Why do you do this.

2) The second thing is the home page that you have now. You can't read the text without using the horizontal scroll bar. What a pain.

I have used Netscape since 1997, and now use v. 7.2 beecause your v. 8 has no email function. If you do not soon update your email function I will be forced to leave Netscape altogether, something I prefer not to do.
Why on earth NOT update your email??

I just discovered that the "new netscape" has arrived and have been trying
for 2 hours to get it to accept my sign in, even to the point of trying to
establish a new account for My Netscape and am told the "alias" belongs to
someone else...(maybe me?) Since we run mac that may be the problem, am
disappointed that I can set up the news/weather,sports, etc. that I had
waited for so long. May go back to Firefox.

When using netscape as my home page I keep getting Bad Request size of a request header field exeeds server limit.

As of March 27, 2007, MyNetscape has be flaky and given me the "Bad Request - Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit" error message from both my home and office computer when I try to get the page to update or click on any of the buttons across the top of the page.

What happened? I am trying to get into my Netscape account that I have had for several years. I made me jump through hoops and still wouldn't let me in the door. It says that I need to answer the e-mail they sent me, but won't let me in to answer the mail. My AOL account didn't show any thing. This is disgusting. I quit. I won't try again. Goodbye. (At least I can still use Firefox and my Earthlink to surf!!!)

Tried with all my sorry knowledge to get to my site in Nestcape. No soap. Will not try again. This is too much when someone who has used Netscape for years is locked out of their own account on a site. Goodbye!
