I use NS7.2 and want to move up to a more stable browser but must be able to easily move my NS email, bookmarks, etc. NS8 would'nt work. Help!
Am also interested in when the non-beta release will come out. Personally love the URL correction feature but if done properly. Have to be a bit careful if some smaller sites have names that are close to big daddies (e.g. http://www.googlec.com)
Great job!
I too would like to see Netscape come out with a mail tool integrated with their latest browser. I used the Netscape mail tool for years and have not moved away from NS 7.2 because of this. I am seriously considering switching to Outlook because it is well supported, but I'll lose all of my old email files (not really, but they won't all be in one place alongside my new ones). Heh Netscape, how hard would it be for you to integrate the mail tool? C'mon people, don't just leave us abandoned! Does anyone know of a tool to convert the NS mail database to Outlook?
Thanks,
Perry
Well; I see no "Mail Tool" on your new browser--again. What good is a browser without a mail tool. I guess its time to switch over to IE --ohhh so painful.
Mahalo,
Mike
According to the site, a mail application is in the works. But don't act like IE is your only other option. If you like the old NS try using Seamonkey.
Won't MOVE from 7.1 because there is no mail tool in the browser of the newer versions. Since AOL got hold of NS it's a mess folks..stick with the old browser.
I've right there with everyone else. Why doesn't Netscape considerate on upgrades to Netscape 7.2 all in one browser/mail application? The whole reason people use Netscape over IE is because of the all in one application. I was just recently told about SeaMonkey and I'm now using it. When you install it, it automatically imports everything (addressbook, bookmarks settings and more) from Netscape without any added steps. I looks just like Netscape 7.2 only it works better with some of the newer sites. Try it you will like it. Why Netscape has dropped the ball on this is beyond me.
Six months ago I moved from Netscape 7.2 to Mozilla's Sea monkey.
Why 7.2 was getting a bit tired and Netscape 8 did not have an E-Mail client.
I was one of the first users of Netscape and still have the installation discs.
Like others If you want me to move back to Netscape and I would be more than happy to it will need to have an E-Mail Client.
First of all, congratulations to the People from AOL/Netscape for the new version.
I am a Maxthon (V1 and V2 beta) user and, because Maxthon is only a front-end to Microsoft Internet Explorer, I have my restrictions about this browser/interface. I do not change to Firefox due to a lot of features that browser like Maxthon, Greenbrowser, SlimBrowser and others have, proving their browsing facilities easily to the internaut.
Thus, I would like to suggest to the Netscape developer's team some features that will transform NS in the standard browser again, like it was 10 years ago:
1) Site groups will facilitate open several sites with a single click (webmail sites, for example);
2) Super 'drag and drop' turns open text links on a page an easy task (also, ctrl+alt+n to open a page from clipboard);
3) Configurable Side bar with RSS, Favorites, Search;
4) Drag and drop for images, saving it to a pre-configured folder;
5) Content blocking with white and blacklists;
6) Popup blocker with white and blacklists;
7) Zoom;
8) Autologin, preferable SlimBrowser style, with full form-fill and automatic login;
9) Sharing of the Favorites folder with other browsers;
10) Links to Web translate services;
11) Capacity to re-order opened TABs;
12) Close TABs order configurable (activate left, right, last, etc.);
13) Highlight words (within the search bar, for example);
14) Fully domain completion (www.*.com with ctrl-enter for example);
15) Fully configurable objetct downloads (sounds, images, ActiveX, etc.);
16) Fully configurable service folder like 'Download', 'Image folder', 'Sound folder', etc.;
17) Mouse gestures;
18) Menu and toolbars customizable;
And many other less important that can be observed on a couple of hours in use.
I hope some of these suggestions will be implemented in the Netscape 9 and, if so, I will back to may old and good browser.

This is the first time i have ever posted a comment.However, with the addition of the new netscape browser I feel I must finally get in the game.
Only one browser for me and I sure wish I still had it!!! Netscape 7.2
I just want to weigh in on the 'mail tool' comments previously made here. I completely agree, Netscape really needs to incorporate this in the new brower, so I can move up from 7.2.
set in my ways ... using 7.2 ....
very comfortable with it ...
tell me why I should update ...

I have always been a Netscape user for my emails because it is so well-organized. It is easy to check what you have received and sent, and what is pending. I once downloaded Netscape 8 thinking it would incorporate the browser and email services, but I found that it was just a browser so I have stuck with Netscape 7.2. I hope that a new email service is forthcoming.
Since I am pushing 70 years old, I would rather stick to the original email program. I have tried others but have decided to return to Netscape. I am looking forward to your upgrade which incorporates both email and browser capabilities.
Add me to the list of unhappy users of NS8 I should have remained on 7.2 esp because of the mail. The free Netscape Mail is a complete mess -- barely working and all but useless. A mail client that works would keep me from leaving NS altogether. Oh the unnecessary pain ... But I'll never, ever go to IE, either.

Any timetable for a non-beta release?
