Like others hear I'm on 7.2 and not moving. It works, provides all I need and until I see a new suite version of Netscape I see no reason to move away from it. My only other options are splitting everything between Thunderbird and Firefox, but that defeats the concept of KISS - Keep it simple, stupid.
So, Netscape people, next time think about bringing 7.2 up to date.
Like so many others, I have not migrated from NS 7.2 as 8 will not let me bring over my telus mail account. 7.2 automatically carried it over from my older version. Why in heavens name would you upgrade your browser and not incorporate automatic mail transfer like you had before!
Netscape announced the immediate availability of Netscape Navigator 9.0 Beta 1. The release is now available for download from browser.netscape.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Add me to the list of unhappy users of NS8 I should have remained on 7.2 esp because of the mail. The free Netscape Mail is a complete mess -- barely working and all but useless. A mail client that works would keep me from leaving NS altogether. Oh the unnecessary pain ... But I'll never, ever go to IE, either.
But the thing is that it may likes the other peoples too. Any guess why??
Netscape 7.2 users may upgrade to SeaMonkey, which is more or less the same thing (minus AOL IM).

Well done. It is a great progress compare to the previous version.
I too agree that Netscape needs it's email applications. I am considering alternate browser options because of it, my old 7.2 version is acting up since it loaded the trial beta.
I wiil not up-grade Netsape until the newer versions include the e-mail tool. Otherwise, one has to switch back and forth between browsers, too great a nuisance. Separating e-mail from browsing was one of the dumbest corporate decisions ever made; it must have been done by people who are isolated from the demands of the real world. And now I notice, maybe to pressure users to upgrade, or to punish them for not doing so, the search capability has been removed from NS 7.1 . But the only result will be to force us to switch to an alternate server.
Nice work:)
Small problems with too small fonts in menus on Linux, but I solved it myself.
I kept 7.2 on my computer. I also have 8.1.3 on my computer. I use 7.2 for my e-mail, and 8.1.3 for surfing. That's what the people at Netscape told me to do, to keep my existing e-maill account. I will upgrade to NS 9, after they work the "bugs" out, usally, about one month.
I honestly thought it was just me ... I have 7 for my mail and 8 for everything else- but I can't contact companies from the 8 due to no e-mail address on 8. For some reason my old 7 doesn't "fit" on the screen any more so It's not readable. I will try Sea Monkey! thanks for the info. J
Ditto on the email tool. I am still using 7.2, but it is becoming unstable. I may have to move to another browser entirely.
Looks like the ball is in Netscapes court
(aprop as it's French Open season) to see,
if like the rest of Corporate America,
they will ignore the public consumer/user
or actually respond favorably and actively.
I haven't upgraded to a later version
from 7.02, because not only will they not
work with E-Mail, but DO NOT support the
Toy Box Theme/appearance for the Browser!
