after reading this post that explains the situation quite clearly, I wonder how is it possible that the new netscape portal vs. social netscape news topic was handled so poorly initially. A good press release BEFORE the launch would have prevented the misinformation.

I wonder if the removal of the social news component of the Netscape 9 browser is a clue of things to come with the Netscape site. If there is no social news site, the social news components of the Netscape 9 browser will no longer be needed.

I don't believe that nasty news. Netscape is great site. It can never die I am absolutely sure about that. Don't believe about those nasty news.
There are some very interesting figures and it would seem unwise to pull the plug, especially with such a following and high adoption rate.
With big players behind it thought its got to come down to a cost decision....if they cannot see the direct profit benefit then why continue to do it?
