If they are truly going back to the way Netscape used to be, thank God. Netscape and I go way back, and I hate their changes. I don't want to know what other people think of current news or what stories they are interested in. Nor do I have the time to sift through masses of news to try to find stories that I want to read just because no one else thought they were worthy. Give me the news as written by the press and back off. I can handle it from there, thank you.
For months changes, changes, changes which adds up to a bunch of inconsequential info. It would be nice if the mail really worked fast and efficient. For an average joe like me technical is not a big deal. Ease of access and static performance are paramount. It appears that Netscaape is no longer Netscape but AOL which I am not enamoured with. I get tired of opening up my browser only to find new news about pending changes... Boring!!!
I wonder if it has to do with the "suits" upstairs needing to control the main stream media in order to keep their wallets stuffed...
hello
I am satisfied with the current browser , although I have been using other browsers I like the graphics, features , social new networking features etc, My gripe is the loading of Netscape and its memory usage which can exceed 70 mb and that in itself it hard on my memory based on my memory limit of 240 mb I am using Xp I go to a online school and it freezes almost all the time now due to the Java incompatibility. So when do you think there will be an browser update so my surfing can be smoother and more efficient.
I not one to oppose change as long as it is for the better. I just hope that this change is not an attempt by ANOTHER news source to "tell us what we think" instead of just giving us the news, we already have plenty of those out there and we don't like it...that's why I read your page instead. If I feel that you are trying to manipulate our opinions I will stop reading.
Terrible Decision. The "Netscape Portal" is just a cheap rip off of AOL. At least with the social news, there was something there. This is why Netscape is associated with failure.
sure hope this means that access to e-mail will FINALLY be fixed
I'm glad that you are giving me an opportunity to add a comment. I pretty well try to use Netscape all the time as my browser, and am pleased with the news I am able to get as well as connections with other sites. My one complaint is that when I access Continental.com to check-in and get my boarding pass I can't get passed the page that asks if There are any under age kids traveling. I have reverted to using Safari to get my boarding pass. I'm not sure if this is a problem you can fix.

Hmmm, does that mean I'll finally be able to check my email in under an hour? I'm thinking probably not.
Hopefully Netscape will look at the comments here. I usually never comment.
I love Netscape Navigator 7.1, I use its features alot. And will continue to do so, if Netscape isn't fixed. I cannot find the features I use - Composer (on the lower bar on right hand side near mail icon) on the Browser or even Navigator 9. Of course I am not the most computer literate person in the world. Please bring it back plus email. Right now both the Browser and Navigator 9 site are very hiccouphy and slow with email if they even offer it. And as far as I know I have everything updated.
Prefer the straight news. The blog news (whether conservative or liberal) belongs in a blog, in my eyes, not Netscape.
I was, and still am, one of the ones who is in favor of a more "news" format. The current "social news" system infects a great number of people with the simple idea that "if I see it on the internet, it must be true". Seeing blogs and other comments presented as if they were factual only perpetuates problems. Knowing that it's "social" by format sets the tone...take it with a grain of salt and believe the old adage, "believe one tenth of what you hear and one half of what you see."
Since netscape mail went to AIM I have received spam. I never received a single piece of spam before. I have not liked the mail system since. Everytime you turn around they change things. I really wish they would have kept the mail seperate. New is not always better.
I too have noticed the bogging down of the mail recently. I don't think the combining of AOL and Netscape was a wise decision
I dislike the new netscape.com, the current netscape.com, but love the old netscape.com. The way it was before AOL purchased netscape. It was my favorite portal. Clearly, it's gone forever. Just like my visits to it.
I completely agree and second everything Mike said at 9:57 PM.
Thank you thank you thank you. I have hated the "social news" page forever. It's full of garbage that people put up there as "news." It's a joke.

I would like to go back the memory lane a bit.
Netscape was THE browser that opened up the Internet experience to us gave us a whole new world that we had never seen or experienced before. You guys are THE PIONEERS!
Through the years you have constantly improved the experience and improved the user experience as well, barring a few missteps along the way like Netscape 7.X.
Despite Microsoft's mean and vicious attempt to "Cut the oxygen supply", Netscape survived, and that indeed is a great compliment to the brand.
AOL, on the other hand has been an upstart, trying to chew more than it's tiny mouth could handle, and in return, choking a venerable company like TimeWarner..
They Got rid of AOL, and are now healthy and strong, albeit with some bad habits acquired from AOL.
We, the loyal Netscape users from day 1, need to tell AOL NOT TO MESS WITH NETSCAPE AND IT'S LOYAL USERS!
If they want to make changes and bring more traffic, ads and revenue to their brand, I suggest they stand on their own tiny little feet and see if they can do it on their own. If they are smart as they claim to be, let them prove it to us. Their history is full of failure after failure, and missteps after missteps. After overfilling America's landfills with trash of promotional CDs, they have nothing that can say they have been successful at ANYTHING!
I would suggest that they leave Netscape brand alone!
Peace and Blessings!
