Well done Netscape! My favorite browser is back!
Wow, amazing news! I am still awaiting release Japanese version ;-)
NOW, this is one excellent browser, which incorporates the key features I want and frequently use. Incredibly sophisticated, stable and fast; a really top-notch adaption of the Gecko Engine to a practical browsing application.
If you don't use it, you're missing a really superb surfing experience. Use it. Enjoy it! Kudos to the Navigator Team for a fine product. Navigator is my default browser.
I wish it didn't have an "Automatic Update" feature on it.
I have auto update disabled in Vista so I am prompted before an update is downloaded, let alone installed.
Netscape has updated itself twice since I switched to the new version.
That's the ONLY ding I have against it. Otherwise, great browser and my default one at that!
Excuse my complete ignorance but I thought Firefox was Netscape's browser - what's the difference between Nav 9 and Firefox?
Okay, Mozilla was the codename for all Netscape browsers, while they were still being tested, for years. The final release was then called Netscape. When Netscape quit browser production (the last version was supposed to be 7.2) the layed-off the programming staff and cut-loose the Mozilla team, who then made Firefox, using the Netscape source code. Around 2005, Netscape decided to resume browser production and outsourced the programing to a Canadian firm (now bankrupt) who created Netscape Browser 8.x. This new browser was based on the Firefox source code (which was built from previous Netscape code). Netscape Navigator 9 is the first browser built by Netscape's NEW programming staff, and is still based on Firefox.
The confusion may have come because when Netscape axed browser development, they advised the users to support Firefox, which led many, myself included, to regard Firefox as the new Netscape. However, with the revival of Navigator, things have returned to the way they used to be. Mozilla is still the source from which Netscape is built. the only difference is that whereas in the past, Mozilla was more more developers and Netscape was for end-users, they are now both marketed for the end-user.
Hope this helps to shed some light on the Firefox/Navigator issue.
Yay, that seems to be worth giving a try. As further mentioned, tab history is a great feature. Thanks for your efforts.
New Netscape 9 shows a 1.5 inch band along the lower edge of my screen - what and why do I have this wasted area?
The area has within it a line of code, see next line:

I like the added security measures! This is a very good browser!
I like navigator very much. Really cool that it supports mozilla plugins. I will download this version right now. Thnx!

Netscape 9 has a bug. I had to UNinstall it already. It leaves a big space at the bottom of my screen with code writing in it. Like somethign wouldn't load. I am back to Netscape 8.1
I use Netscape at work and I'm glad to be transitioning to the new version.
It would be cool if one day I could save my Netscape bookmarks with my browser and then have them linked to some online Netscape social bookmark site. That way I could login to my account on Netscape and see my work bookmarks at home.
in 1996 i acces my first web site.. i access therollingstones.com, i fell a wonderful sensation when i see that comets in navigator 2.0 .. now i have the same sensation in linux using navigator 9. Thanks to bring back navigator to my desktop.
