Flock has some great features but will miss my netscape.
Nice Stuff... Keep It Up.
Nice Stuff... Keep It Up.
I used Netscape becasue it wasn't IE. I switched to Opera a number of years ago and haven't looked at another browser since. I am surprised that no URL is posted for people looking for an alternative either for the defunct Netscape or IE! Opera is free, easy to use and organise and well supported. http://www.opera.com/products/desktop/
I think we all owe a "thank you" to the Netscape developers; especially, the people who started the company. You all worked very hard to bring the web browser to new levels. We'd not be here today without your effort.
THANK YOU. And I wish you all the best.....
Instead of Firefox or Flock, some of you folks might enjoy the Seamonkey suite:

I'm a Firefox user and have been for years, but Seamonkey is the current "spiritual ancestor" of the old Netscape and Mozilla suites. Apparently it's pretty good.
Or maybe even (dare I say it, not sure if it's blasphemous around here) try the Opera suite:

Pretty decent browser, extremely fast, and free (as in "no price tag") these days. To be honest I'm not quite sure how I've never ended up using it - especially since they ditched the annoying ads, it's a really nice browser - but there you go.
Finally, don't forget, you could still just carry on using Netscape if you really wanted to (though the practicality of doing that will probably decrease over time, but you'll be OK for a fair few years).
I'm a web developer and I like Firefox the best, probably just because of all the life saving add-ons I can use to help me out with my work.
Good luck with whatever you end up using!
I don't understand the hysteria. The wonderful browser "suite" named "SeaMonkey" was introduced when "Firefox" came along and the "Mozilla Suite" was abandoned by the Mozilla Organization. SeaMonkey is being maintained by a dedicated group of devotees of "Mozilla Suite," and they have a support forum on the "MozillaZine" site.
I never used "Netscape," but I believe SeaMonkey is a near cousin. Its browser is even named "Navigator," as was the one in the old "Mozilla Suite."
Although I haven't used Netscape Navigator for some time I would like to bid this browser a goodbye.
Netscape will never really die it will live on in Firefox and in Flock.
I first used netscape in 1995 at Uni. I believe that now is the right time for the hand-over to Mozilla and Firefox.
I had to say goodbye to netscape though. Goodbye!!!
So what's the big deal with Flock? SeaMonkey is still great. And Navigator 9.0.0.6 seems really fine. How many more security updates do we really need? Maybe you should think about not downloading so much pron?? Why all the brouhaha about another Mozilla-based browser? Don't tell me…it's got integrated mail? BFD. Apple Mail is great, as is the mail client of SeaMonkey. I trashed IE a long time ago and never regretted it. Along with OE and NS7.
Microsoft is insane... well best of luck to Netscape. Firefox FTW!
but but i lved netscape, i tried both flock and firefox, both are major memory hogs and take forever to load... nestcape was great.. and i prefer netscape and Maxthon over IE and Firefox/Flock
=p
